She is of mixed heritage. Her father, Alfred Carey, is half Afro-American and half Hispanic and her mother, Patrica Hickey, is and Irish. In recent article she has come forth with her struggle against racisim as a child of the mixed heritage.

That is one of the funniest questions I have ever read. I don't know if you are young or you just don't anything about race or ethnicity's but there is no such thing as "semi-black". She is of mixed parentage. It's that simple, as most of us are. Get to tracing those roots and find out if you are semi-WHAAAT!!!

It doesn't matter what her colour is, it's the music and singing that counts. She has been one of the most successful and is still one of the hottest.
All out there that just don't have it and can't be happy for other people. GROW up and get a life. She did so who are all of you to criticise.

If she says she is, then she is. Besides, what does it matter? How does race affect her singing quality? If she was snow white or charcoal black, she would still be a great singer.
