Real Estate agencies do not "employ" agents. Agents are sub-contractors and work out of the agency 's office.

There are a lot of dues and fees necessary in becoming a Real Estate professional that may include "desk space" fees as well.

Once you have completed your course work and receive your license, I suggest that you "interview" with several agencies before deciding on one. Different agencies offer different perks to work under their "umbrella".

Yes, you have to ask the question about part-time versus full-time status. A lot of agencies only want full-time agents that must work out of their offices. To suit your needs you may want to check out a small company, a lot of the smaller companies do not require that you work out of the office.

I am affiliated with a national brokerage that is open to anyone interested in obtaining their licenses in real estate and loan origination. We work virtually through a state broker which may not be in your immediate area but still available for training and assistance. It is a great opportunity for part time people. It is true if you want to list and sell property in your state you do have to meet the realtor guidelines but there aren't any desk fees that are due each month. If you want don't want to list and sell personally, then we have a referral affiliate that you only have to have a license to be compensated. In other words, you refer buyers or sellers to a fellow teammate or the state broker will assign someone and when the property goes to closing you get a referral fee.
