why does looks matter?

im a cheerleader and i have to look good but sometimes i just feel like im not being me by doing it

Looks are what a person usually first notices about another. But once you get to really know the person, the inner personality is what's important overall.

If you are overwhelmed by feeling like you are not "being you," then at that point you might think twice about continuing to cheer.

Unfortunately, many people judge by looks more than anything else. Why else do we have labels like geek, nerd, dork, etc.?

When you are in the public eye, you are representing your school and you have to make a good impression. Society has a certain set of expectations for what constitutes a good impression.

We expect woman wearing skirts to shave their legs. We expect cheerleaders to have clean hair and fingernails. Some cultures/countries/societies have different expectations.

I was a cheerleader, and it's a lot of work to look just right, but I always the effort was worth it because when I was in front of a crowd, I knew I looked nice, I didn't have spinach in my teeth, my ponytail wasn't crooked and my underwear weren't hanging out.

This is how it's going to be when you have a full time job too. Your employer is going to have a dress code. This is just practice for later life. When you are at home or hanging out with your friends, of course you should dress and look however you want!

so what in order to be a great cheerleader you have got to look good I'm 13 i go to Griswold middle school and I'm a cheerleader and hey guys do not go out with cheerleaders if they are UGLY no way we (us girls) don't go out with boys who are gay and UGLY so what if we go out with a boy just for looks were only human!!!!!

if you can't be urself than you have a problem and u should'nt be a cheerleader
