Well it takes time to learn how to take care of a pet. Ask your friends to loan their pet for a few days after you spend some time with them and learning the needs. Also find if you are a cat lover or dog lover. You can have gold fish but they are quite easy to maintain and I would not consider them as pets. You can have Birds, especially a parrot or you could go for hamsters, guinea pigs or something like that.

If you've never had any pets before, i'd start off with a fish. They are pretty cheap. It will give you some training on how to care for an animal and such, feeding, cleaning. Then maybe you can graduate to a hamster or something. I wouldn't get a cat or pup just yet...you might not know how to deal with it, they are like children.

Depends on your lifestyle and commitment.

If you're not married or haven't purchased a house, I wouldn't get a dog. They are heavy commitment and you need someone home every day--single people just aren't.

You could go with a cat, as long as you don't plan on being gone a lot.

If you've never had a pet before, I suggest you start with a fish. Goldfish. See if you're really interested in it after a month.

You have to make a decision of how big your house is, what your parents are willing to let your have, the amount of time you have to devote to caring for your pet, etc. Once these questions are settled, then you can talk with your parents, and see about the kind of pet they will let you have.

Depends on how much time you have, and your preferances....Personally if you have the time and engery I would get a dog, or if you want something calm that can still curl up on you're lap but doesn't need attention constantly get a cat....or if you want something that can't really wander around the house get a hampster, guinea pig or ferret!

a hamster. they are sooooo cute and they don't take up a lot of room and they don't go around your house ruining things like a cat or dog. inexpensive and easy to clean up because they bathe theirselves so all you have to do is change out their bedding every few weeks. They're simple as that.

Cats are pretty nice. You don't have to take them out to go to the bathroom and they're pretty independent, so you don't have to worry about them too much if you have work all day.

A cat. So in case you get all upset and lonely, they'll just jump on you and cuddle on you and start to purr.
