Finally, and most difficult, the liberals need to get back control of the language, and put the right-wingers on the defensive for once. It is clear that the far right is thoroughly anti-American, and that Bush is the weakest President in modern history when it comes to national defense - yet it is the Democrats who find themselves on the defensive on both the defense and patriotism issues. That's just plain backwards, and the liberals need to fix it.

The conservatives need to continue pandering to their base by passing more tax cuts, more "feel-good" attacks on Americans (the same-sex marriage crap, the anti-stem cell crap, the anti-flag-burning crap, etc.), and wave the flag as much as possible. Then they need to enlist the media help again in disseminating lies about the Democratic candidates.

If the conservatives do those things, they won't need to rig elections. I'd bet that there are no Republicans in official party positions anywhere in the country who are working on plans to rig voting machines, though I'm sure there are some who are working on other kinds of voter suppression drives (like the ones who put nails in my tires last election day).
