Oh jeez...I guess you think she is there to make it 'look' good. We need a third party to help stabilize the region, since the two major parties are not going to stop. Look, there was an issue with Iran and the world about Iran starting a nuclear program, an issue that was going to get real big. Iran and Syria gave Hezbollah the go ahead to create a distraction in Israel so as to take away the focus on them. The tactic worked because:
1. Hezbollah is just itching to jump start Armageddon BUT MUST ASK their puppet masters, Iran and Syria, for permission.
2. Iran got so much international pressure off of them due to the current event in S. Lebanon and it CONTINUES to go forth with it's nuclear programs with very little oversight from the world now.
3. Without the Palestian/Israeli issue somewhat stable, the other Arab countries are less likely to pressure Iran to conform to international nuclear standards.
4. With the U.S most likely being the major 'referee' in the current issue, some allies in the Middle East might not agree with us and hinder even more our goals to stop Iran's nuclear program
This all goes back to one place, Iran. This country is considered our greatest enemy in the region. More so than Afghany land, Iraq and even Syria. It is my hope that Iraq and Afghanistan are steping stones to the real threat, Iran. We already got a head start-Iraq and Afghanistan lie directly to the West and East of Iran. So in essence, we have them surrounded!!! Yes, the U.S does care about peace in Israel, with that region stable, our problems elsewhere in the Middle East will be so much easier to solve. Then it's Iran. But we'll get to them, probably when they side with China in WW III.

she's not going to Lebanon, lol. A beautiful country is destroyed because the Lebanese government can't and won't assert soverinty over it's own country, allowing a political party to have a militia to pick a fight with it's neighbor, Isreal. Too bad the Lebanese allow the Hezbollah cockroaches to hide among them. When a Hezbollah missile armoury is attacked (Qama) inocents are hurt.
Thousands of missiles have been rained on civillians in Isreal and there's no outcry. The war on terror will and must continue. Condoleza Rice (USA) has no control over this conflict. Neither does the Lebanese government.

Condelleza is there to make it look like the US is doing something. So far we've come up with the idea that some nation should put their soldiers in blue (UN) helmets and sit around and get shot at. Not surprisingly, no country seems all that interested in participating.

To tell isreal politicians that kill as many Labenonians, we will come lateron with peacekeeping force, humanaratian help etc to Labonon, as such in the name of peacekeeping, they instigate Israil to have more attak on Labnon. Really this is sorry state of affairs by U.S.A. authorities.

To reassure Lebanon's leader that the U.S. will pay to clean up the mess being made by Israel, and to reassure Israel's leader that the U.S. will supply additional billions to pay for all the extra ammo they are using to make the mess.
The sad thing about all this, other than that we taxpayers are forced to pay for it, is that she and Bush cannot bring back the dead and heal the wounded for which they are responsible by not stopping the extreme overreaction by Israel at the start.

Conde Rice "working on a full cease-fire" with Lebanon and Israel" is completely hilarious. Right, this lady is supposed to walk over and solve almost 60-year old conflict dating back to 1948 when the UN pushed by the US punished the Palestinians for the atrocities of Hitler. Great.
Israel is the prime example that brutal military domination, a continued response of violence, and unhinged repression of a lesser developed nation is not the answer for peace.
Many people do not know that not only did the UN push the Israel state on palestinians already living in the area in 1948, but Israel itself with US weapons took over a larger portion of land in 1967. On top of this, the religious extreme of Israel has been encroaching on Palestinian territory slowly by building more and more settlements on their land in an attempt to make a squatter's rights appeal for more expansion. In these last 10 years, Israel has started building a wall that zig zags its way through palestinian territory strategically taking over valuable land resources of interest to Israel. Every invasion into Palestine from Israel is dubbed an occupation of self-defense. Every defensive move by Palestinians is dubbed an attack or worse, terrorism. The end-result is that Palestinians are in a living hell, under constant economic, social, and political bullying from Israel, and unhindered military reprisal if they try to do anything about it.
But this violent mentality the Israelis hold so dear isn't working. After 60 years, yes, they have more territory, but the region around them has become so embittered and depressed that they feel they have no options left. Almost every family has had someone who has been hurt or killed by an Israeli military attack. It is no wonder then that Hamas and Hezbollah receive so much support!
The Israeli military is like a 10 year old child with a machine gun. To take out a stone thrower, they shoot him dead in the street. To take out a Hamas leader, they will completely demolish an apartment building in a busy downtown area, killing and injuring hundreds of innocents. In this recent conflict, 80-90% of their kills have been on women and children and they have even completely demolished a UN outpost of volunteers ignoring calls for help and after having to bomb it three separate times over a period of a few hours to take it down.
When a mother has two sons that are fighting she doesn't tell the younger one that he deserves it and that the older one will stop beating him up when the younger one stops annoying him. She calls an immediate time out on the part of the older brother and then goes on to settle the situation. The US has the power to stop this onslaught by Israel. We supply all their weapons and training. We give them millions and millions in aid. If Conde Rice and the US really wanted to, they could stop the Israeli offensive, but they don't.
Why? Maybe because it is in our interests to have Israel take out another mid-east country. We've taken out Afghanistan and Iraq now. We're planning war against Iran. Israel taking out Lebanon or at least causing Iran and Syria to shift military supplies to them will make our mission easier in the end.
Rice says she needs two more weeks to arrange a cease fire. Hmm. It just so happens Israel currently wants two more weeks of war. Sounds like Israel has an ally to me. One that will veto any resolution against Israel and itself in the UN. One that will supply and resupply weapons until Israel is satisfied. One that will ignore an international call for a responsible peace plan that supports both sides and continue to assert its support to a country that is blatantly aggressive towards their lesser developed neighbors.
In the end, we help only one person, ourselves. Long live capitalism.
