No, Zito will go to the Dodgers.

I'm inclined to believe that Oakland will hold on to Zito and let him go after the season ends. They are leading the AL West, with Barry being a big reason for that. With Rich Harden out until September, and possibly the rest of the year, the A's need an ace if they are going to contend.

I follow Oakland quite a bit, and from a personal standpoint I'd rather see him dealt now. Since he is going to leave after this year they'd be better off getting something in return for him. Whatever team he'd go to, Mets are whomever, would have to give up some good prospects and talent for him. I think the A's have enough decent pitching to still make a challenge for the playoffs this year. With such a small budget from year to year, Oakland needs to always keep an eye on rebuilding the team to stay competitive.

hmmmmm ...lets see here...the 2 best SP "available" are Zito and Willis. Okay Mets fans do you feel comfortable with Steve Trachsel as your number 3 starter.....oh I'm sorry do you consider Orlando Hernandez your 3rd starter.......IT DOESN'T MATTER, because they both suck! The point is you have Pedro Martinez who makes a great number 1 guy...but glavine as your 2 guy---you have got to be kidding me---he should be a 3 or 4 guy on any team. The mets need a willis or a zito if they have any shot at the world series...trust me as great as wright, reyes, beltran, and delgado are they can't do it without a little pitching help. Imagine the mets if they had pedro, zito, glavine, el duque, and trachsel as their 5 man rotation...it's still average! They need to get Zito, and they need to get livan hernandez from the nationals. Now as much as they need these guys...they need to hold on to lastings milledge, otherwise I would just wait till next year because he's too good a prospect even if they got barry or dontrelle. Now the mets can make the series if they get just one more starter (zito, willis, livan)...but two starters equals an automatic ticket to the big show. I think the mets could get zito from the a's without parting ways with milledge. they could offer...mike pelfrey, brian bannister, aaron heilman, john maine, victor diaz, brett harper, anderson hernandez, jeff keppinger, chase lambin, heath bell, and Jason Scobie, and Xavier Nady could be a throw in. The mets might have enough to trick the a's into giving them zito without trading lastings. So to answer your question yes he will most likely go to the mets if he is traded at all.

You know I am not toally convince that Zito is what he used to be and report indicates that a lot of people in baseball think that his arm is not as strong and sooner then later will have pitching problem

Considering how much in retur Oakland wants, if a team really want to take a chance on him I would rather sing him this summer then give up goo dprospect on him and have a risk of him getting hurt ot signign with another team in the off-season

As long as the Athletics are a contender for a division title, I don't think Zito is going anywhere.

Chow!!

No - because the Athletics are in the pennant race and they need Zito.

I think the big question is whether or not Oakland feels they need him to propel them into and do well in the postseason. As it stands, I think the Athletics need him more than the Mets do. I'd have to say he stays where he is until the offseason.

The Mets could use another good starter but who do they give up? Lastings Milledge?

The Team, The Time, The Celebration.
