Before you go nuts, I mean most of the ones I've met, not all of them. They seem to bring up the bible all over abortion and why homos don't deserve rights, but close it the minute the New Testament starts. They miss out on alot of important facts in the NT, like he who is without sin, cast the first stone; Love thy neighbor; and most definitely; do unto others as you want them to do unto you. Why are so many of them Christian when, and only when convenient?

I think many of them are confused. The old testament isn't Christian at all, and that's where they are focused. I would see them as fundamentalist non-Jewish old testament fanatics, not Christians at all.

Most of them draw a complete blank when you mention anything about Christ,

Language is the expression of thought. Every time you speak, your mind is on parade....A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth that which is evil: from the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks. Luke 6:45

it sounds like you mean as far as law making goes, that is because the old testament is a behavior standard and the new is about forgiving law breakers not condoning law breakers
