Maybe he knew that, if he did undo his zip, then there was a far worse punishment waiting for him? Or, maybe, he was just following the script- I mean, in real life I'm sure he's perfectly capable of undoing the zip, but if the script calls for him to stay zipped up, then he follows it. After all, he's an actor! You can't go confusing TV with real life now....
