If you enjoy Poe, you'll love Guy de Maupassant's short story called The Necklace.
Read The Most Dangerous Game. Great psychological horror.
My favorite poem is To My Valentine by Ogden Nash. It's sheer comedy. You'll laugh a lot...

I'm always reading and don't really have a favorite author, but check out Dave Pelzer's 3 book series: A Child Called It, The Lost Boy and A Man Named Dave....
(if you've never heard of them -- true story of this child whose mother was extremely abusive and her biggest thing was not allowing the boy to eat)

Descent into Darkness by Edward Raymer. He was the lead diver in the recovery of our ships at Pearl Harbor. Fascinating and Funny.

My favorite author is Isaac Asimov but my favorite book , Dune(and all its sequels) was written by Frank Herbert and contined by his son after he passed away. As for Mr Asimov I like his non fiction works as much as his sci fi.
