He is close associate and top-notch secretary in Bush Administration....and naturally people abuse him as its his part of job.

Some people just enjoy abusing others. There's no rationale behind it and more often than not...they're usually mistaken about what they think that person did to "deserve" abuse.
It's nothing new...it's ignorance and also gives a small person a jolt of power. The world will survive.
