We just bought a BBQ, and have bought some B4. The BBQs come with a small rod looped at both ends, and a chain tied to one end. What is this rod for??

Since you just bought the grill, the piece should be identified in the owners or parts manual. By the way, this is my all time favorite website for everything BBQ:

I'm betting that it will be your favorite too.

Good luck with your BBQ.

Is it used to hold open the lid at an angle (assuming it's got one?)?

What style of BBQ is it?

You use it to hold a match and light the grill if your igniter stops working.
