People make pre-judgments about Black poeple as if they know what Blacks are thinking doing saying, going to say and/or going to do. Everyone uses slang. Why is it that if a Black person is having a comfortable conversation with someone use slang, they have to be assumed ignorant or "ghetto" and not know any better? Why is it that if I alone, make a stamement, I speak for my whole race? Why do some people who are not black worry so much about what black people are doing?
- I may continue to elaborate as responses come

The decision makers in the white house, senate gov.etc. today are directly related to the same descion makers that created laws STRICTLY for blacks. Lets not act like the government was't ,at a time, largley set up against blakc and highly interested in the oppression of blacks.

Anyway, one wonders if black people, especially the youngsters, know anything and everything about themselves! Now, after years of struggle, there should be no difference between white and black in America, thanks to civil rights leaders like Martin Luther King.

Why would you wonder that? How many youngsters have you sat down with to asses their knowledge of their own history? How often do YOU talk about black history? See what im saying? Why is it automatically assumed that they dont know anything about themselves?

I have a very extensive vocabulary. I still use slang. Every person on this earth uses some type of slang of jargon etc. to help things get across quicker and more abroad. Hell some slang has been put into the dictionary. So everyone is dumb then right? If you use slang you're dumb right? The whole english language in america was fist considered to be slang by europeans. Why do you thing we dont talk like Brits. Theses things are natural in communication.

I know we(human) all came from the same place(in Africa). Eeryone doesn't. The world inst run in a "we came from the same place" type of mentality. It's funny how people actually get mad at questions like this. I asked opinions, I've offended no group or any race of people singled out no race but my own, yet some people are highly offended.
It's like putting a mug shot of someones's *** on TV. That person would be disgusted at a mugshot of an *** on TV. Until He realizes it's a picture of his own ***, when he had it hanging out. Now he's pissed and wants to get defensive.

i dont have presumptuous ideas of black people- i interact with everybody as an individual. i understand what you are saying- though & anyone who says black people arent treated differently, in general, is living in denial. there are other people who are treated badly as a group, though. like, people who live in a trailer park, or people who dont dress nicely, or handicapped people, or people with a strong accent from another place. basically, we just need to listen to other people's hearts and not judge w/ our eyes. God bless all-

That's a really sensitive issue and I think it goes to the heart of race relations in America today. The fact is that most people look at someone of a different race and don't see a person but some how a representative or a spokesman from that race. That is just wrong. A person is just a person who happens to have a certain skintone. Nothing more. We can't presume to know anything more about that person. An example of this is when Americans travel to England, for example, and hear a black person speak a perfect clipped London accent.
I understand what you're saying. Maybe we can help to change a few attitudes here.

My answer is black and white! Basically, there should be no difference between black, white, yellow, brown or any other colours as far as identifying or treating a human being is concerned. Needless to say, just a pin-prick and the blood that gushes out has only one colour - red!
Anyway, one wonders if black people, especially the youngsters, know anything and everything about themselves! Now, after years of struggle, there should be no difference between white and black in America, thanks to civil rights leaders like Martin Luther King. But reality does not seem to be so and the main reason for that is ignorance and lack of education. Education alone can eliminate the racist ideas and create a world where human dignity is given prime importance irrespective of one's skin colour! And, elimination of poverty and ensuring equality of opportunities to all should also be given added attention. Let us all be cautiously optimistic!

well i could say the same thing about black people. every time i listen to a radio station which is listened to by a larger black audience, they make fun of whites and other races? They do the same thing on BET and other channels and they always stereotype white people as talking funny, "cant dance" or teasing other races. When you talk loud enough for people to hear you and they don't understand what you are saying, but it sounds like English; what would you do, and remember EBONICS is not a language?? People always stereotype what they don't understand. Everyone will always worry about what others are doing, no matter where you live. Now you and many others have read this, and you or others may say " this must be a stupid white boy or some other race". But that is your opinion, and you are allowed that. If you believe in yourself, then don't worry what others think. I am proud of myself, and that where it starts, be proud of yourself, and your race wont matter!

It's because they see African Americans on TV doing music videos with their flashy cars, jewelry, etc. rapping with all kinds of slang. So the uneducated person just groups us all together as an uneducated race. Like some others have stated, that is never going to change. People will always be there to group some race. For instance, a whole lot of people see a middle eastern person and think, "terrorist". It's not right but it's just the way it is. Maybe someday we can change these beliefs...I hope...

Although the world has changed, history is still playing a big role in the way most people view african americans. Society has created so many stereotypes for african americans and are very quick to judge. I know lots of black people who are very intellectual and knowing that they are, it's hard for me to see them getting judged by others. But the truth is that people judge a group by how the majority of that group acts. I know it's wrong to judge but it is a ongoing problem that we have around the world.

Wouldn't matter what was/is said, and even if something WASN'T said. And why are you so arrogant that'd you assume I would think YOU speak for your whole race at ANY time? Keep calling attention to it, so you can keep making these assumptions about everyone who isn't black.
Maybe some Blacks shouldn't worry so much about what other people are doing.

ok then, let me get a few points in your mind...
-Everyone is related to everybody else through this world. Science has proven it, yeah... So, you're related to those early presidents who hated blacks, I'm related to you, you're related to me, etc.
-People who use slang are automatically called ignorant because most people who use slang are stupid, that's just the truth. They have a limited vocabulary - no offense. Everyone isn't like that.
-I'm white and you have no clue what we're discriminated against - no joke. We don't know which life is the harder one to be in because I'm not in your position and you're not in mine. Oh, you have it hard. Have you ever heard the saying, "The grass ISN'T greener on the other side?" That is so true and goes with all our lives.
-Blacks weren't the only slaves. There were also white slaves. Most black people think only they were slaves - not any other race.
-You have to stop saying things are unfair. I'm used to being around all kinds of races (White, Black, Asian, Hispanic, Arab (sp?), etc.) because for one, I live in Texas and we have the highest black population from the entire United States. What happened before you shouldn't trouble you for the rest of your life. The people before you were mistreated. That doesn't mean you have to hold the grudge. Our descendants aren't clones of us - most of us have better ethics and morals and all of us need to realize that.
-If you're alone, you speak for your entire race because that's what your entire race acts like. They just act like if one of you says something, it has to hold true for the entire race. It's like you can't have your own opinion which isn't moral.
-Another thing, anyone can be smart. Your race has nothing at all to do with your intelligence.
You probably won't like my answer, but those are my views and I have backup info. for some of it. Some of my answer just came from my opinions. Just remember, IT'S YOUR LIFE, not anybody else's.

Not everyone passes judgement. Why is it that when I go out, I hear black people using words that I have never heard before. It's not that I think they are ignorant or ghetto, I'm just confused as to what it means.

Because it is easier than just sitting down and talking to them and that is true with all colars, and I am disabled with Cerebral Palsy on my left side and people assume a lot about me without even talking to me so it is not just happen because of race but also because of what you look like.
I wish it was different but I doubt it will ever change.

Black does gowith the whole thing and for those who get purple you cant put on a blue blouse with that outfit(colour clashing) so I could pass with black except you're inclined to co-ordinate your outfit whenever you put on them..
