I like it. I wouldn't name my OWN child that name, but I DO like it. I agree with what one person said, in that you should envision your child as an adult and what she'll be doing with herself... will she lose credibility with her name? In this case, I think not. I'd say yes if you were going to name her "Bon Bon" or "Juicy" or something like that.

As for the one who mentioned the name "Maria"... Sorry..... I think of an 80 year old nun in a habit... or my grandmother, my aunt, my three cousins (I come from an Irish Catholic background). It's certainly not my intention to offend... but it is, in my opinion, an overused name.

And who cares if her nickname ends up being "Ken"? What about "Sam" for Samantha? "Alex" for Alexandra? "Stevie" for Stephanie?.... If she's secure in who she is, people will come to associate her name with who she is... and that's all that really matters.

Can I be honest? It's awful.

It's trendy and tacky, I'm sorry, but it is.

People judge others on their names. Think of your daughter as a grown-up. If she was being considered for a job, alongside someone called Maria, who do you think would get it? Maria would, because the name has a strong and sophisticated image, whereas Kennley doesn't.

At the end of the day, you can name your baby what you like, but remember they don't stay babies for ever. It's nice to have a name that will be helpful in adulthood, because lets face it, you're an adult for a lot longer then you are a baby!

You know, I really do like that name. I have never heard it before, but it is different and nice sounding without being odd and so many names are these days. I wouldn't worry about her being called Ken, our baby daughter is named Melanie and nobody calls her Mel. It wouldn't happen since she is a girl.

I also don't like made-up names. I like nice traditional names. Some people say they want to make up names so that they are 'original', but so many children have made-up names nowadays that it's kind of boring. I like the old fashioned names that most people have given up on.

personally I am not too keen on these "made up" names - people try to be original but really it just makes things harder on the kid when they have to tell people 6 or 7 times what their name is and how to spell it
plus people will call her Ken

Will you mind if her nickname turns out to be Ken? Moreover, will she mind???

Make it her middle name instead, if you really are stuck on that name.

Gosh. What happened to good old-fashioned names?

I think it sounds like a boy's name, but it's your choice. If you like it then go ahead. I personally don't like it. I would rather choose Keira.
