It's not just my system but a general system people use, even when the bagging is not done by yourself.
Fruits and Vegetables can share a bag.
Meat a separate bag.
Frozen stuff a separate bag.
Bottles/cans a separate bag.
And of course more fragile stuff on top of every bag; for example in terms of vegetables, potatoes at the bottom, with onions, but leafy stuff or bananas at the top.
It's easier when you unpack, and also in some cases there might be families where some members are vegetarian, so keeping meat and the rest separate is a nice thing to do. It's also more hygienic in the sense that you avoid any contamination.
Personally, since I go to the supermarket very often (a short walk to take my mind off work, and I always decide on the menu I'll cook depending on what's fresh - I'm a guy who enjoys cooking), I generally ask to bag everything together; but still meat will be in it's own little bag inside the large bag.

Yeah I'm pretty anal when it comes to bagging up my shopping I always put the heavy stuff on the conveyor belt 1st like bottles of drink, tins & stuff so it can go at the bottom of the trolley, then its the frozen suff, then fridge stuff ( keeping raw meat seperate of course ) then fresh veg followed by toiletries & non food stuff. Finally Eggs & bread in a seperate bag so they dont get squashed & broken. I would rather do it all myself & hate anyone else helping cause they always do it wrong. ( woah I think I need to take a little look at myself! )

I have a huge insulated bag for frozen stuff and I try to pack cleaning fluids etc together but apart from that it's just whatever wherever. But I do bring my own bags :0) And I make my kids unpack it all when I get home lol

- I'm female.
- Yes, I like everything bagged a certain way. For example, film and toilet paper are separated from frozen foods or anything else that has condensation outside the package. Eggs and bread are kept away from heavy stuff like large bottles and jars.

(m) I make sure squashable or breakable things are on top. Distribute the heavy things so they're not all in one bag. Double bag glass bottles (especially wine/beer). Take care with packages with sharp edges that could cut through the bag (I had a nasty experience with a cucumber once which was poking through).

I just throw the stuff into bags as it comes along!
much easier, quicker and as its only gonna be in the bags for a while it doesnt really hurt what goes where!
Well thats my theory anyway ha ha

Yup, I even put the food and other stuff on the belt in a specific order, so that it makes sure the other person has to put it in the bag right...so that it goes back in the cart right...so that I can load it in the car correctly....I'm a woman...hear me roar...LOL
p.s. I also like to have my coupons in order of the isles I will be going down...hehe

You have to sort them by alphabetical order, then by temperature, then by shape.
Make sure you put EVEN number of things in the ODD bags, and an ODD number of things in the EVEN bags.

If I have plass bottles I try and put plastic stuff inbetween them so they don't smash. I do try and put vegetables , tins etc in the right bags but have you ever tried to keep up with an over zealous checkout person? Impossible.
