Already established in the Civil War. States (with few exceptions) do not have the legal right to secede.
As far as the use of wide-scale chemical weapons (which are lumped into the category of weapons of mass destruction), it's very unlikely that the US would resort to those. It's also unnecessary.
Between economic pressures, and the actual military, there's more than enough resources to keep states from seceding.

No chemicals during the Civil War, but they would definitely send in the military. Look at Kent State University in the 1960's.

HHHMMM!!! Look through your history book. Around 1860 - 1864-5, States tried to seceded and it became the bloodiest period of America's history.
As far-fetched as it may sound there would be little if any hesitation to bring that state back into the United States.

no, because each state recognises it's strength as one union. we would not have to use force. each state has the power to object to anything it does not go along with. the central government realises it does not want it's states to be divided again. we have become a stronger union. we have also become enlightened about the rights of others, because of the plight of the slaves in our country. we believe in human rights. there is the ayran populace in our country, but even in states that have a higher constituancy of these people, the majority of their particular states believe they are wrong, while they may have a voice, others have a stronger voice. this country will never become divided again. we have discovered that "united we stand, divided we fall", is true. we are americans, and we will stand together.

Texas is the only state that retained that option when statehood was ratified.
Not likely to happen.
No such means would be needed. Military would be enough to remove the state government.
Don't lose any sleep over the thought.
Nice thought, secession, here in Texas. Would have lots of support.

We tried that in 1861. Abe Lincoln got elected, and several states decided that they needed to separate. Four years later, after the bloodiest invasion in US history, the Confederate States surrendered to Union occupation. This year, the occupation fort in Atlanta closed down.

Not that it would happen, because states are more economically viable within the Union, but if they tried to go independent, they would forcibly be kept in.
Just like the American Civil War.

I think they will, because they can't afford their country to fall apart. If one state wants to break away, another may follow soon. The government wants to have a strong united country so I think they'll use force.

I'd like to see California secede.
They think they can live outside the states it has a grand economy we can give it back to the Mexicans.
If the Gov't does something I would like them to, and think they should bomb it's *** back into submission. Use frisco as ground zero
