I'm not muslim but frankly its not about fairness, it's about crime and punishment. I think you just lose one hand for the first offense. I think it's a good punishment, it you've got sticky fingers maybe they need to be removed. I think the old testiment has something about if your eye offends pluck it out.

Some forget, christians, jews, and muslims all share the same old testiment, and the God of Abraham.

Bottomline all three religions consider it an offense to steal. Only modern socialist seem to think stealing is OK.

At meals, muslims eat from common bowls with the right hand. They never use the left hand as that is used for wiping the bottom.

If a person steals, it is the right hand that is cut off. This action prevents the criminal from eating with others, as he must use his left hand.

No one would eat from a bowl where a left hand had been inserted.

So, in effect, this punishment has prevented the criminal from mingling with the rest of society.

- you steal food because you are hungry
- you steal medicine to rescue someone
- you steal a silly thing

Your hand is chopped if you are rich and still steal things you dont need.
