What labels a specific person a civilian?

What can a civilian do to not be considered a civilian?

When a civilian wields a weapon, is he/she a civilian?

If a civilian chooses to stand in the way of a fight, is he/she still considered a civilian?

If a civilian is not granted the ability to leave a fight by his/her own nation, does that make the civilian a hostage of his/her own nation?

That is a very good question. I used to think I knew but after watching the news I'm not sure anymore.

From the reporting coming out of the middle east I guess if you help load a missle into a launcher fire it off, then jump into a car to speed away and get hit and blown up you're also a civilian.

If you have a weapon and its blown away from you by the blast from an air strike then you're a civilian.

There's a price to pay when the civilian population joins with illegal combatants who don't wear anything to distinguish themselves from non-combatants. Allows them to launch missle from the roofs of apartment buildings hospitals, and transports militants and weapons in unmarked civilian vechicals, ambulances etc.

The price is a lot of "civilian" casulties I don't feel the least bit sorry for them. The "civilians" have a choice either separate themselves from the militants or die with them.

A civilian is someone who is not empowered with the power to protect our nation, either as a police officer or a member of the armed services. I can tell you, though, that this is a question with a very grey answer: I am not in the military or an actual police officer, but I am not considered a 'civilian' because I have to carry a badge. I am considered just the opposite. A civilian who wields a weapon is still a civilian, but possibly a criminal if it is in the nature of a criminal act. If a civilian chooses to stand in the way of a fight, a civilian is practicing civil disobedience and by very definition: a civilian. When a civilian is not granted the ability to leave a fight, that doesn't make them a hostage that makes them a person who has been drafted and is expected to follow orders of their commanding officers. Good luck and God bless.

These are all wonderful questions.

Please forgive me when I tell you Civilians are the dust of Humanity. And Humanity is all of us.

Best Wishes and Good Fortune my friend
