A restaurant here in Helena, MT has done that a no one is concerned. Is this a public health issue? Does the health dept. warn restaurants before inspections? This one did.

The anti-freeze was bought at the local store. Not restaurant supply. I have contacted the health dept. and IHOP Corporate. IHOP corporate said it was a rumor yet the cooks say they did it. I think it might be a cover up by IHOP to shut down the rumor mill.

Should be shut down.

Freezer should be shut down also, in order to clean.

Someone should report it.

Deadly practice.

No warning in order. Someone may be paid under the table.

Write to your news media. But support your claim with proof.

Yes, antifreeze. How else do you clean a room at 0 degrees farenheit? The propylene glycol in the antifreeze keeps the cleaner from freezing against the freezer walls, and wipes up relatively easily. It was nice of the health department to give them a heads up - a pop inspection can be embarassing.

Anti-Freeze is a poison (toxic) to humans and animals.
I would simply call your local Health Department and ask
them that question. If they are then concerned about the
public's health, they will investigate.

If, like you say, the restaurant has already been warned
and are ignoring that warning, then they are in violation of
the law.
If you know this to be a fact, call the Health Department.
You could be saving lives.

you have to. mopping a freezer without anti-freeze is what we do to new guys. the mop just freezes to the floor. we usually use a more food safe anti-freeze, its not the kind you put in your car.
