It is pretty straight forward these days, you can probably buy the whole kit at a good diy store, you will need inline taps for the water supply and a 24" standing waste pipe with an S bend at the base.
You can buy taps that actually bore into existing pipework to make it even easier cos you do not have to turn the water supply off

Do you have a receptacle under your kitchen sink?

Yes, then it is pretty easy.
Connect the discharge hose to the sink drain. Lowes and Home Depot have an adapter that you will need to insert into the sink drain pipe. Next install the supply line to the water supply line under the sink. The usually supply you with a clamp/tap that will poke a hole in the supply line. Finally, plug it in.

Good Luck

Most builders place the taps(Faucets) and discharge pipe BEHIND the machine. The manufacturer states that the supply pipe and discharge pipe should be in the adjacent compartment, which of course makes sense. Easier to install the machine, NO kinks in the pipe, easier to service etc and the pipes supplied always reach well into the adjacent (To the side) compartment.
I even had the electrical outlet installed in the adjacent cupboard,
In answer to your question buy a special kit that cuts into the pipe.

Absolutely honey - don't even THINK of paying someone for this.
If you read the other answers and are still unsure then nip along to your local Wickes or B&Q etc and pick up one of their little leaflets that tell you how to do it, complete with pictures etc. If you need the bits then you are in the right place to buy them.
Good luck!!

Plumbers did not finish the top of their class. So yes you can do it.
If you have water feeds ready then its just connected the pipes. if you need to run pipes, you can get kits that make it as easy as pulling up a plumbers trousers

If you're just replacing an old one it's not that difficult, if it's new installation and major work has to be done, call a professional

To the git above me ... we have taps . .this is the UK.

You can buy complete kits , if your plumbing is failry new you should have no problem, having said that, why not get a few quotes, if its cheap enough let them do it.

Suppose you could, if you were good at DIY. Having said that, my mate's dad tried, ended up flooding the kitchen and his wife was p1$$ed at him for awhile!
