Superstition is a word for something that is not real.

Well, when I was a little kid I used to believe in that kind of stuff...I used to believe that it's bad luck when you see a black cat walk across the street and a lot more of those superstitions. Now I don't believe a single one of them! They're just things people made up...and you get bad luck only if you believe you can or will. Everything is in your subconsciousness.

I believe many of them have value!
I think a lot of superstitions have some basis in fact and offer a warning.... like 'old wives tales' hand down a wisdom in easily remembered terms.

Examples: walking under a ladder... for all the obvious reasons!

spilling salt... during most of our history salt was a precious commodity and not always easy to get, but vitally necessary to our health.. to spill it had to be seen as 'bad luck'

step on a crack.... unstable footing with possible injury to a child.... a little rhyme to remind children to watch where they step

Many of them just don't apply to our lives anymore or have lost their reasons for being. Many still have value in providing a way for young children to remember dangerous actions to avoid, but can be foolishly carried over into adulthood without thought.

I don't because I think most of the sayings come from someone having badluck with something in particular and then making up a superstition regarding what happened. Then stupid people keep repeating it until it sounds true.

I'm guilty of believing in a little superstition when it comes to sports. But that may stem from tradition more than anything else.

I only believe in certain superstitions, but not all.For example-I own a black cat and I don't have bad luck.I do believe in people being jynxed,I think it's happened to me several times.

I don't really believe in such things, but I still do comment for example if I walk under a ladder or see a black cat or something. I don't think it's healthy to believe in such things though, because I think it's a mental thing. Once you believe in something it haunts you and you think you were jinxed while it all happened because you really wanted all that to happen mentally. I just think about it but don't truly really believe in it!

Define superstition. Your definition seems to be anything non-Christian. I'll put this on my watch list so I can see if you reply.
