Why the hell do you all trace your roots back and stand proud telling people you are 3/4's Irish or 1/2 English,1/4 scottish and 1/4 French or wherever the bloody hell you are from.

Interesting point, but you are quite incorrect. We "all" do not trace our roots back. This is a sweeping generalization, and neither honest nor accurate.
But if you asked it fairly, you might have said "If so many Americans are so proud of being American, why do they trace their roots back and stand proud telling people you are 3/4's Irish or 1/2 English,1/4 Scottish and 1/4 French, etc.?"
As you seem rather angry about this, you have overlooked a simple principle. Most people are curious about many different things. And some like history. Whenever one researches genealogy, all they are doing is researching a part of history that is directly connected to them. That has nothing to do with being American or any other nationality. It has to do with curiosity. And who knows? You just might be related to someone that you find fascinating? How is this type of curiosity harmful?

I don't. I AM a native american. No I'm not an Indian. I was born in America, my parents were born in America, I could give a damn if I'm 1/2, 1/4, 1/10 anything cause my great great great great grandpappy sailed for 837 days from wannaliveoverthere island to get here. But I'd be politically incorrect to call myself a native american, even though I am.

And I'm not always so proud of being American. When some pathetic, dumbass American sues because she spills HOT coffee on her lap while IN HER CAR and WINS, pride turns to shame. There's a billion other pathetic examples, but why bother.

I understand completely. I am one who doesn't normally give race because I know nothing beyond America and I'm proud of it. I think some people need to feel special and tracing their roots could be that special thing for them . Hope this helps.

Because I can't go to China and be Chinese, or Russia and become Russian, or Germany and be German....but anyone can come here and become an American? Great "Melting Pot" and all that. Mostly BS of course, but makes for great propaganda.

Personally I'm from Georgia. (But I do have some Cherokee or Creek in there somewhere I think...waaay back.) Heh.

Wow, that became truly especially humorous, yet now, i do no longer comprehend if your question became meant to be a severe one. although, to respond to it, yeah, i'm proud to be an American. customarily, i'm proud through rights I truly have AS an American. we aren't suitable, yet we are greater advantageous than the different adult males. ^_^

You can be proud of being American while also being proud of your roots. The two aren't mutually exclusive.

because the illusion of being an american is the lovely mixture of races that weve become. however the real "americans" are the native indians and not the police and firefighters
