I gave my son a scrambled egg this morning and he ended up throwing up all over. He has had small amounts of eggs before (just a couple of bites) and it has not made him sick. SInce he has thrown up he seems fine. Any thoughts? Was it the eggs or is he sick?

Could be either one. Although, since right now he seems fine, it might have more been the egg. Eggs can have salmonella poisoning form in them if they are not handled properly either in route to the grocery store, in the grocery store or at your house, they can develop this bacterial poison. Eggs need to be refridgerated at all times and don't leave them out for too long before you use them. However, if thoroughly cooked, that should do the trick and all should be well. So maybe, your little guy just wasn't feeling that egg this morning! Sometimes baby's stomach's just don't react well to some things until they're fully developed. Or, he could be hot in this beastly summer weather and anything you would have fed him would have come up. I know the first introduction I did with my baby to eggs was to bake an egg custard. She had no problem with that and then she progressed to scrambled eggs. Good luck!

Many people are allergic to eggs. Some of them, like my son, can eat a small amount, but a scrambled egg breakfast is out of the question. It sounds like you'll be investigating this possibility, hm?

I hope your sweet babe feels better soon.

Eggs usually don't have that effect on kids, especially being 11 months old he should be fine eating an egg.He could just be sick, but if his sickness continues tomorrow take him to the doctor. He may be allergic.

It could be either one. A person can develop an allergy to a food after one or more exposures. Sometimes, it is the second time someone eats something that they have an allergic reaction; something the hundredth or thousandth time. So that's definitely a possibility.

But he could also be sick. If you're not sure, call the doctor; she/he will tell you whether the baby needs to be seen.

I was under the impression you don't give egg whites to a baby under a year as the whites are a high allergen so that's maybe what happened. Just keep an eye on him and you'll see. Maybe google allergic reaction for eggs and see what the symptoms are.

The egg may have given him food poisoning, which should go away fairly quickly (within a day.) I have gotten food poisoning from a scrambled egg and it made me throw up.

Some people are allergic or just plain can't tolerate egg. In this case since you mention no other signs of an allergic reaction I would say he is either not feeling well or just ate too much.

You are not suppose to give eggs to a child under the age of one. If the eggs are undercooked and you are not aware of it then the child can get sick.

You need to get that baby to a hospital immediately.
