My original Sims 2 disc was dropped and broken. I want to play, but I dont want to have to go buy it again. If I install one of the expansions and run the game off of that disc, will I still be able to play the game without the orignal disc?

I guess if you install an expansion pack you can still play it. But i suggest going to a store and seeing if they can get the CD fixed in case running it on the expansion doesn't work.

Once you install an expansion pack you play off of that disk but i believe that during the installation they require you to insert the original sims 2 disk. I would go to where you purchased the sims 2 and they will most likely replace it. If not I would see if you could borrow it from a friend just while you install it and then you could run the program off of the expansion pack.

You use the newest EP disk to play your game but you will need the older CDs to do some installations and maintenance. Since there are still EPs to come, you will probably need the disk again even if you are very good at backing up your whole computer regularly.
