Well it all depends firstly where you have in mind abroad to live, for instance, I live in Spain, I moved from the UK, the best way really is to go to the country you are thinking of buying a house in and have a good look around first, see what you like, you must always have a solicitor, but...if you see a house you like, then the Estate Agent will usually do all the necessary paper work for you anyhow. Another idea is to go to the country you are interested in and rent a property and then just take your time looking, get the feel of the place, see if you like the area, if you like the neigbours, because if you buy a house and then realise you dont like the area etc.. its much harder then, yes.. you can sell but that can take a while, we love it in Spain, but we are moving, still staying in Spain though, we bought a house on an Urbanisation (community of houses) and although its a beautiful house and the garden is huge, we feel we dont want to live on an Urbanisation any more, its not what we dreamed of when we first came here, so we are moving into the country into a farm style house with acres of land for our Horses, we wish we had rented first then we would not of had to sell, but on the other hand, we have made enough money on this house now to be able to buy our dream house, so its swings and roundabouts, its what ever your needs are to be honest. We bought our house 5 years ago for 64,000 pounds now its worth 300,000+ so as you can see its not all been a waste of time us buying first has it. I really wish you the best in your dream house abroad, good luck, what ever you decide you will love it, we do.

We bought a house in the USA - we went over there, picked out the house we wanted - signed the contracts the same day - and a month later we had our house, which we rented out - We obtained our mortgage through a reputable Mortgage Broker - and the company, this broker worked in, did all the Conveyancing Transaction as well - On Completion of the property we attended the Title Company - went through all the title deeds etc - to make sure we had a good root of title etc. We sold the property a couple of years later. The house was brought through a Management Co.acting on behalf of the Vendors, and we sold it through the same Management Co. It was so quick and free of stress - unlike in the UK !!! The other thing to do is go to the country you want to buy in - and speak to the Brits residing there already - they have been through the process, and would know the contacts you will need.

first you need to do some research...
i would suggest you hit the internet and look up property in the countries you are interested... often you will find advise on what is involved in buying a house in that country on those sites as well. if not, look that up as a seperate search on the internet.
once you have your general location, go there and visit agents in person and see as many properties as poss. as well and learning everything you can in the local area. the absolute best is go up and talk to english people actually living in that area. not only will they have good info about the area, but also info. on best way to buy a house and.. if you're lucky good contacts for when you have bought.
if you are planning to up sticks and move to the other country, it really is a better idea to rent for several months first so you can learn the lay out of the land etc.
good luck!!!

It depends where you are going... There are different taxes and laws for different countries e.g. if you are over 40, you cannot move to Australia because you would be no good for their economy. You would need a solicitor in this country if you are thinking of moving straight out there. One in that country if you are renting out there for a while first. Some banks and building society's make you pay back mortgages and loans before you move out of the country and you would need to apply for a visa to work out there.

If you are looking in the south of Spain, i can help you to buy or even find you somewhere to rent first for a while to look around. It is easy to buy in Spain if you have the right contacts and local knowledge, And it is the hottest place in Europe and the cheapest to get to!
