I always think first on Turkey because at school they used to show Turkey as the starting point of the silk road and the source of Asian attempts to conquer old Europe.

But we should not forget that people from all these countries are Asians too:

Funny how the same word can mean two different things in different countries.

I live in an "Asian" populated area.. so generally, for me, it means Chinese (most populous of Asian countries), and Far East.. it is rare here to count Middle Easterners and Indians as "Asian".. however, this could apply depending where you live.

SE Asians (Thai, Lao, Filo, Indo etc.) are generally known as SE Asian here.

In the UK Asian refers to Indians and Pakastani's. I know in the US it refers also to chinese, japanese etc...
