I didn't even tell her I was going to the Dr., she just assumed. She never assumes when other workers are sick that they are going to the Dr. I do not believe there is anything in the employee handbook about Doctor's Notes.
I hate my job anyways but I need it for now till I find somethings else...so in other words, I'm not gonna kiss my boss's *** just cause I don't have an excuse...I just want to be defiant because I am being singled out and I know of no policy regarding Doctor's excuses when sick.

Tell her that you stayed home sick, but did not visit the doctor. A doctor can not give you a note for time off that they did not treat you for. Let her know that next time, if she wan'ts a doctor's note, she should let you know that when you call in sick. And what she does with other people is none of your business, just like your business is none of theirs.

I agree with the other posters on here that you need to read your employees' handbook;and as bad you hate your job, you are still a employee there and need to follow the rules.
May I ask
Did you take a excessive amount of time off from work that made your boss think you are a "frequent caller"? If you are;she has EVERY right to ask you for a doctors note.Remember, your manager has a boss she has to face and probably needs hours and or quota she has to hit each single day.If one employee calls off;that hurts your paycheck and it hurts your boss and company.
If you have vacation time you had earned;use it.
If you hate your job,Go out and find another job on days you have off or before your shift starts.A job will not come to you if you sit and complain..Once you get another position; tell your manager you found another position and do your 2 weeks so you can leave on good terns..

Yes your boss can ask for a doctors note when you are sick. Some employees who show a pattern of calling in sick on mondays and fridays can be asked to produce a note eevery time they are sick. All the employer has to do is show a reasonable pattern of sick call abuse. SInce you say you hate your job it is probably a fair assumption to say that you do call in a lot and this could be why you are being treated a little differently then your fellow employees.

You may very well have to prove it. Read the section in your Employee Handbook to find out the rules, but the boss can still ask. Learn to be honest with your employer, whether you hate the job or not. As you say, it pays your bills. If you called in sick, there are rules...reading the book will tell you, I am certain. Look for another job, for your sake and your present employer's.

When you call in sick, without a doctor's excuse it is an unexcused absence. what you are actually doing is taking an absence due to illness. Your employer is well with her right to ask you for a doctor's excuse, since you did actually call in sick.

She may be doing this to you because you have called in sick more frequently than other employees. Again she is well within her rights. she could reprimand you, because you have no written documentaion of an actually illness... Proceed with caution....

Your company has policies on how many unexcused abscence an employee can take. Keep in mind that this can legally lead to your eventual termination. A doctor's excuse protects your position.

Time to grow up. If you want to work, you have to play by the rules, even if the boss makes up the rules as they go along. If you don't like where you work, get another job, or suck it up, grow up and start doing what is expected of you. Be defiant on your own time; when you're at work do what you're told, or accept the consequences.

For starters, read your employee handbook, it should have all the rules. If you feel singled out tell your boss. I'm positive he's not trying to make you feel bad.

Afraid I have to agree with Tom, dear. You sound like you probably DO call in a lot. If your absences are more frequent than the other employees, then you have singled yourself out, not your boss.

First of all, it seems that your boss don't trust you. Second of all how often do you call sick? Under normal circumstances, no boss ask for doctor's note. There must be something going on... open your eyes girl.
