Just a good hyperthetcal question to ask oneself i think.
When measuring out exactly how much one's life time is spent actually feeling the pleasure sensations within the body compared with how much time we spend feeling the pain body. If female the pain certainly out weighs the pleasure. (This is not talking about the pain and suffering mind, the physical sensation body only!)

Yes I am an idot and I am not God, that is why I can not spell Hypothetical. It was just an idea of how to create a perfect life form free of pain and suffering that's all.
Just bored basically.

I've got it easy - pain IS pleasure! :-)

Ok, to directly answer your question, I don't think many of us would give up pleasure to be released from pain - unless we were in chronic pain for some period of time. Then the percentage of people who would do this would certainly increase. I don't believe I ever would do so unless it was with the intention of finding out how it would change my perceptions and thoughts.

There is no pain without pleasure.
They go hand in hand.
To deny myself of pain, would be to deny myself of pleasure and I would not want that life.
For, as horrible and unbearable as the pain can be, the pleasure is all the more breathtaking and beautiful.

Oh, I see you weren't talking about the mental state of pain.
You were talking about the physical state...
???
People's pain thresholds vary, so some people may be more susceptible to their pain than others.
Some people are cynics and only feel the bad things and never the good.
Sure, if I could have a life free from pain, that would be great, but...

Great question.

Right now I would say that I am not sure if giving up the pleasure would be worth being free from pain. However, everyone gets older and any of us can get ill.

From personal experience, with the pain I saw my mother go through in her last 5 years of life I am sure she would have given up pleasure. But that would be in hindsight.

You are a deep thinker, I never thought of this question before. Good luck to you.

I wouldn't. I'm a girl, and even though we do go through some really annoying pain monthly, I wouldn't live that way. Because if I gave up pleasure, then I'd be sad, which would cause me to be in pain, which would mean that I had given up pleasure for nothing.

I wouldnt do it. Because pain and pleasure is what makes up the world, just like right and wrong.
Without we are all emotionless andriods who do what they have to do to get by.
There would be no goal in life, no obstacles to overcome, everything would be...too easily obtained.
No. Just no. LOl, but it is a good question.

That is a deep question. For, if we don't experience pain, how would we know what pleasure is? There wouldn't be anything to compare it to. So, the answer is no, no, and no! :-)

I wouldn't settle for that life. A world without pleasure is much more miserable than a world without pleasure. It's better to have both than to have neither.

Nah. I think the opposite--knowing how much pain we're probably going to experience in life, we'd better grab all the pleasure we can.

If one felt neither pain nor pleasure, what would one feel?
And what would be the point of that sort of existence?
