No. The shopkeeper has to sell 15 CDs to make up for the margin loss of that one because margin on CDs is so low now.

You're hurting the owner, your reputation, the reputation of your generation and worse, your Karma.

What goes around, comes around.

If your downloading the free music legaly, then it isnt stealing because it not against the laws, but if your downloading the music illegaly then its against the laws and stealing a CD from a shop is also illegal, so it would be the same thing.

I wouldn't steal from a shop, and I can't download anything for 'free' as I pay the use of Internet to my ISP. The same I can record a TV program. I pay TV license and cable, and I can record whatever goes on my telly, I just can't distribute or publicly show it. In my view it's the same to movies, music, whatever I get from the Internet. Not sure about the Law in this matter.

not at all. In this day and age it is encouraged(not stealing Cd's), obviously not out loud and not by the people who sell the Cd's. If people who wouldn't otherwise buy music but are listening to music which then grow's on them, this gives them(the bands/artists) more fans who are maybe going to want the original CD, with original artwork, maybe get tickets to their gig's, bring friends and buy merchandise. Download for free forever.

CD's cost more than legal downloads anyway so stealing a cd seems worse as it has packaging, ppl can look at u directly and its more expensive. its easier to steal from H & M than versace.

I used to work in the HMV at the Trocadiera in London and they used to catch up to 60 ppl a day nicking stuff. They had 4 security guards and 6 plain clothes store detectives plus loads of camera's.Plus they always prosecuted if you had no money to pay so it isn't worth it.

No, when u do it from a shop it feels wrong but when u download it it doesn't feel like steeling because u haven't physically walked out of a shop with it.
