No, if you look into their society they live plain lives so that nothing takes away from their focus on God. They do allow you to leave for one year to decide if you want to stay living the plain life. Most "cults" don't allow their followers to leave.

No, they believe in most of the same Christian beliefs, as other Christians, but they just don't want to be a part of the technological and immoral society. They would rather live simple lives. Their children aren't forced to live that way. They are taught the Amish ways and are allowed to go live in the world when they are older, and they get to choose how they want to live.

Their not a cult. When a young adult comes of age he/she can decide if they want to stay or live in the modern world. In a cult you're never given that decision.
