PIN is Personal Identification Number. It is common in the States as well, but when you use a debit card. Never share your PIN with anyone you don't want to have access to your funds.

A pin code is a code that comes in Europe with your ATM card, but your credit card also has one. This way you only know the code and nobody else can use your credit/ATM card when you make a purchases. It exists out of 4 numbers you can make up yourself in any order so it is you ho only knows this code, which you can also change at the bank if you feel you need to.

Personal Identification Number. It's a special code you have to type into the keypad at stores, or cash machines, so you can use the card to withdraw cash from you bank account. Since no one else knows your code, they can't steal your card and use it to rob your account.
