How many reasonably intelligent people WOULDN'T have made a better
President?
I have a great deal of respect for Colin Powell - though I disagree with
him over many issues. Generally, I'll take an honest guy over someone
who completely agrees with me (or apparently completely agrees with
me) every time.
I think a McCain/Powell ticket would be a fine ticket for a Democrat
to lose to. I'd have been proud to support them.

Probably not. He strikes me as being a logical, honorable man... that would never work in politics. Politics is about making deals and trading favors to get what you want. As the saying goes, "Anyone that Should be President, Can't Be. Anyone that Wants to Be President, Shouldn't Be." Have you ever heard of someone "Playing politics" about something? It's not a positive phrase, is it? Well THAT'S what has become of our government leaders....they are a joke. "What do you call 100 dead lawyers? A: A good start!" That joke is laughed at by 90% of the population, and that is a sad, sad fact. They brought it upon themselves, and we all suffer for it.
Me, I voted for Perot....I would have liked nothing more than to see that man in office four terms ago...scare the &$#*& out of this two party system.

nobody knows this. Colin never ran and he never told us how he would govern. Also we have never seen him in office to see how well, he does what he says he is going to do. The president doesn't have a lot of power anyway. He can't make any laws. He didn't even authorize this war. Congress did, he just didn't veto the bill.

Bush has ben a great president. He's turned around the economy. He inheirted a recession. He's made it work by tax cuts. Look at the history of our nation and tax cuts. Everytime they worked. You make people pay less taxes, more money in their pockets, (i for one save some and spend some) but most people spend, thats called commerce. Unemployment is at near record lows, and we are winning the war on terror, whats not to enjoy?

He was a good General, not a great one, but a good one. I liked him, but some of his views were a little more liberal sided, so in that regard I would hesitate to vote for him. I've seen him speak and he's a great speaker and he's having a lot of fun being retired. Why on earth would he want to be President.

It's a direct conflict of interest to have a military leader operate from the Executive branch regardless of his leadership and management skills.

It wouldn't matter.............
The president has nothing to do with evberyday life.
It is the Establishment which has been in effect since the cold war that run things..
The president is nothing but a lame duck puppet

Not necessarily better but he would make a good president. I would vote for him but he will never run for president and it is a shame.
