Those nasal strips work pretty good.

An otolaryngologist can diagnose and help with this issue. Snoring can, in itself, be a health issue. It can be sleep apnea where someone stops breathing. It can also be a weight issue. And it can be caused by too much tissue at the back of the throat. The Otolaryngologist has a variety of things they can do to help and even stop snoring. I do understand that it is more common when a person sleeps on his/her back. Once, someone told me to tape a small toy-ball to my back to make me sleep on my side. It just kept me awake! But, if the person could try sleeping on his/her side it might help.

It depends on the cause of your snoring. Drinking alcohol, even a little seems to be a culprit- relaxes your throat, etc. Dirty air is also a possibility. Try a hepa filter in your room. Decongestants and antihistamines may help decrease snoring. Do you have pets? Allergies may be the problem. I've been fairly happy with those "breathright" strips. I don't know how they work...

Snoring may be caused from a obstructive disorder that is in itself harmful. I suggest seeing a doctor and getting to a sleep lab to rule out obstructive sleep apnea. Does the snorer get plenty of hours of sleep, but still feel very tired all day? Does the snorer drink more than 1 caffiene drink a day? May also want to avoid large meals or concentrated sugars 2-3 hours prior to sleep.

Alohas

I totally agree with M.T. A friend of mine almost died with Sleep Apnea and Sadly another one did die because of it..
The one that survived went in and got checked for it and they put him in for surgery the next day, He is now on a breathing machine at night with extra Oxygen and no longer Snoring. Now he gets a good nights sleep Every Night and he’s a whole new person. And has been able to lose over 100 lbs from his overweight condition as well because he can do so much more during the day..

Please have your friend see an Ear Nose Throat Doctor, Preferably one who specializes in 'Sleep Apnea', it might just save their life..

Alohas and God Bless

Snoring can be a indicator of other health related issues involving the ears, nose, throat, and sinuses. Friend of ours had to have surgery. He had sleep apnea and never knew it until he saw a ENT doctor. Does not snore and has never felt better.

Sleeping with inclined upright bed, to reduce snoring,
Sleeping with body position toward wall, or vice versa.
Go to E.N.T. specialist doctor, he will do for you.

The snorer might have sleep apnea and should most likely discuss the problem with his/her doctor. In the meantime, those Breath Right strips really do help.
