Many Iraqis (and Muslims, in general) are just plain scared to speak out against the radicals. They know that they immediately become a target themselves when they do. The killing of activistic, pro-American Muslims is a common practice.
Another point, is that for years Iraqis learned to keep their opinions to themselves because they got turned in by their neighbors to the Hussein regime. They have learned "not" to trust. And America didn't help things any when it encouraged the Iraqi people to overthrow Hussein after the first Gulf War and then didn't support those that tried...and eventually died for their effort.
So your speaker is welcome to his perspective, but it isn't necessarily the whole story.

Consider the situation. Empathize the situation. Close your eyes and picture this. Your in a country with no real political morals for the country to follow. There really is no leadership. You live in a country where the national moto, essentially, is everyman and women for them selfs. You live in a country that really has nothing to be proud about. Basicly, its you against the world and you have nothing to lose. You haven't much so the only thing really can be proud of is your oil but most importantly your religion, your way of life. Imagine this; your poor. You have nothing to call your own except an object in wich you feal has an unwavering amount of sentimental value. It is all that you have. Someone or a bunch of people invade your life and try to take it away. This instance is my analagy to help me explain to you the situation of these people. This is all they have. They feal that the Americans are trying to take that away and without their way of life they would be stripped of their culture because what they beleive in is not aggreable to the United States. Honestly, I don't beleive the rest of the world would really care about how Iraq lived if it wasn't for the United States threatening and pushing the other countries to take action. Iraq is lives tottaly different then rest of the world and really there is nothing wrong with that. I agree Sudam Husein had to be removed from power because he was out of control but that should have been the end right there. The United States should have pulled out just then and left it as a job well done. Imgagine the country of Iraq being the supper power. They disagree with the way America lives and decides to invade in an effort to change the Americans way of life. How would you deal with that? I know that you know the answer to that question. I'm not saying what the terrorists are doing is right because two wrongs doesn't make a right but you have to beable to understand their reson. When you acheive this you then will beable to understand the Iraq people. I'm a Canadian. I've never been to Iraq and I'm not Iraqi I just was able to use my common sense to put the facts together and see the big picture. I'm not an activist or an extremist. I love my country but you have to be able to see through all the bullsh*t and know the truth. This is the bare facts. There fighting for what they beleive in!

Of course Iraqis care about their country. If I am not mistaking, there are many resistance movements to the illeagal occupation of it by today's evil empire, and this demonstrates how much they care about their own country. I don't know what made Saddam Hussein more "evil" then Saudi absolute monarchs or former SS troop Izetbegovic of Bosnia-Herzegovina, for example. Actually I do: That is because once uppon a time Saddam Hussein invaded one of the US' cliant states, which was a danger to others, and also launched a few missiles uppon the US' well known loyal moocher cliant (Israel). Had any normal state bombed another for the same reason Israel bombes Lebanon today, then Bullshit Senior, Bullshit Junior or Penis (Bullbull) Clinton would have sent their "God loving" pilots to bombe that contry with DU and claster bombes and inflict "collateral damage" appon citizens.

amazingly, they are behaving pretty much the way our country behaved when we first won our freedom from great britain. the iraqi s just have deadlier arms than flintlocks and 16lb cannon balls.
we need look no further than early american history to have a greater understanding of how the iraqi people feel.
if one considers the 1900 s the century of america, it took over 100 years to accomplish it. in fact, in 1900, women still couldn t vote, racial equality was in the dark ages, and worker protection laws were unheard of. to expect that iraqi will just become a civilized(?) nation in 3, 4, 10 years just because we are helping is ludicrous.

They *do* care about their country; fervently. That is why they are battling the illegal occupation force in the only way they know how.
