Sorry, primer will cover the glue, but it will not hide it or make it go away. Here is a couple of options:

Option A - Scrape off the glue, as best you can, and then get some adheasive remover. It will take some work to get the wall ready for paint.

Option B - Scrape off the glue, as best you can, and then apply sheetrock mud over what is left. Sand down the mud to smooth the wall. Then spray on texture.

Personally, I would take Option A and do the extra work, so that, you can finish the project and see a wall that looks new.

Good Luck

A good bonding primer will cover over glue from wallpaper, however, chances are that you have left over wallpaper backing also. There are products on the market which will help you to remove the glue residue or simply use warm water in a spray bottle, spray an area of the glue and wash with rag. It takes a little elbow grease but all wallpaper glue does come off. If you use just a primer, your wall or where-ever will be lumpy and look almost like you gave it a crackle finish. Down the road when you decide to redecorate again, now you have bigger problems with the lumps and it's twice as hard because now the primer to will have to come off to get at the glue.

Yes it Will cover over the adhesive. The primer should have a high build factor and the best I've experienced is Zinsser's cover stain sold at most home centers. That being said it is better to clean the adhesive off with Dif's wallpaper remover solution and lightly sand any residual adhesive.

You need to remove the glue unless you do something else to cover the primer. I like to use the steamer that you use to remove the wall paper, to loosen the glue, then use a scraper to remove all the glue. If you chose to leave the glue on the wall, you need to put drywall mud (texture) on the wall as a light texture to cover up the glue. Then sand the mud to the texture that you want prior to primer and paint. Good Luck

They make this thing that puts holes in wall paper, not sure what it's called, but it's just a roller that has little spikes in it that puts holes in the wallpaper. The more holes you put in it, the easier it is to get off. Then there's this stuff used to dissolve the glue, probably similar to the spray stuff your dad bought. You spread it all over the wall. It makes it a LOT easier to get it off. And you will have to scrape it. But that's the way we did it in my bathroom at my parents' house.. there was this really gross wallpaper from the 80s and it did take about a week to get most of it off, but we did have to hire somebody to come in and get what we couldn't get.. and paint. So maybe it would just be easier for you guys to hire somebody. haha. Hope I helped!! :)

Best bet is to remove the glue, otherwise the texture of the glue will show through. We swear by Windex for cutting wallpaper glue. I comes in a nice spray bottle, you can get the big refills at Costco or Sam's Club, it smells nice and clean, and it really works! I've known others who use water and vinegar in a spray bottle, but I prefer the Windex.

Washing the wall with TSP (tri sodium phosphate) should remove the old paste and prep the wall for the best bond in the primer.
Prep is the most important part of a paint job (and too often the part that gets the least attention)
You will be very pleased with the result if you prep and take a little extra time to get the wall ready for the paint.

Only if you plan to stucco the wall to hide all of the bumps that will remain behind. You must sand those areas first with a fine grit sanding paper to get rid of it!

It will cover it but won't hide it.
