A lot of the statments I just read in this topic has been true. But the main problem is Arabs are just not doing what is required to have peace. If you attack me I will attack back. First off the Arabs have to stop attacking Israels borders and stop trying kill it's people. If Israel wanted to kill everyone in Lebanon they would have done it. They are targeting Hezbollah not the people of Lebanon.
Lebanon was given an order by the UN and it was ingored and the group Hezbollah was allowed to take over Lebanon. Hezbollah started a war with Israel but it is the people of Lebanon that allowed it. Hezbollah is the ruling party in Lebanon and they chose to go to war.
Now to answer your question. Arabs hate Israel because it is how they are taught from babies to adult.
Why do Arabs pick a guy and look at him like a god? What ever he says is what Arabs do. When the people in the middle east grow a backbone and take control of their own countries the fighting will stop. Till it stops it will be the people of the middle east that will die not the governments. Remember they are gods and you think they should be protected no matter how wrong they are.
I thought George Bush is a crazy man but the don't hold a candle to the nut cases in the Middle East. That is why George Bush is in office. To fight crazy people it takes a crazy person.

It has to be remembered that Israel was our main allies in the Middle East when the majority of Arab nations were sided with the Soviet Union. It also has to be remembered that the Soviets oppressed the Christians and the Jews, but gave Islam free reign. Also while the Arabs say they were there first, there has been a Jewish presence when Israel is not going back to antiquity, and while Rome did scatter the Jews, even after 73 C.E. there remained a Jewish presence there. The Arabs want to deny this, but it has been proved via archaeological findings. The Arabs are NOT innocent in this at all, they are not Victims at all. Jordan was created by the Arabs to prevent Palestine from being located there. All of this anti-Jews, and US nonsense is Arab propaganda.
It also has to be noted that we have never supported Israel with by putting our troops into their war. This is not the same for the Arabs. We have put our troops on the ground to keep them out of the fire.
Well, Israel strategic location aided our foreign policy goals during the Cold War, and is aiding our War on Terror. Of course it can be said that Israel's existence is the reason for the Terrorist activity, but such does predate Israel's existence. France and England cut up the region after the First World War to exploit tribal differences, destabilize the region and secure the oil sources.

Hezbollah has been trained for years by the Iranian government, and funded by Syria and Iran. Iran wants a nuke (period) Iran wants the entire world to ONLY be muslim, if you are not Muslim...then you will no longer be needed on planet earth. Iran believes that the MESSIAH will not return until the great satan ( The U.S. and Israel) are destroyed. Hezbollah is the "stick" by which Syria and Iran are using to poke Israel in the eye with, so that Israel will call on the U.S. to help and the "war" will start. The Nuke is for the rest of us...including you, my friend. That is why Hezbollah does not target military hardware...they want to kill as many "zionists" and "gentiles" as possible. They only pretend to be primitive in using their weapons, saying..."we can't really "aim' these...only hit what we can, when we can !
Make no mistake...this is a giant "CHESS GAME" thought out by the Islamic clerics in Iran for years, in yet "another" attempt to control the world.
Say what you want...The big picture is this...Iran "will" kill ALL non-Muslims given the chance...This is the next attempt to rule the word, the islamic clerics have been planning this for years...The U.S., and other govs. have known this for years. George Bush positioned the U.S. in Iraq for a reason--To get as close to Iran as possible--Yes, we were probably lied to about the U.S. intentions in the region, and the WMD'S, etc...although true, this was to keep the minds of the American people occupied while the real, purpose was being implimented...Go to Afghanistan, then to Iraq, we are where we are supposed to be...The american people think that Israel and Hezbollah are having a little skirmish, only because the gov knows "YOU CAN"T HANDLE THE TRUTH". You have to think "bigger" IRAN hopes that you won't. The world is asleep at the wheel again...Iran knows this and the U.S. is trying to wake us up before it's too late again...If we could "ask" Winston Churchill...he would tell you the story of how everyone thought he was "nuts" for his constant warnings about Germany

Obviously ,not all do. we have to be careful not to continuously build walls from names and groupings.
On the question : have you read about the history of Palestine over the last century ?
There are many different events that the parties concerned can point to to explain and justify their actions and viewpoints, but the main primary thorn in the side of the Palestinian people ,is that they were displaced from their lands to form the country we know as Israel. This came about partly through British and UN support ,and partly through the successful activity of Jewish terror groups .Also since then there has been a power imbalance supported by the West to Israel's advantage. Obviously people have been outraged over the targetting of civilians by Palestinian terrorists as well ,and now Israeli targetting of Lebanese civilians , especially in such large numbers ,is drawing similar dismay.
Each middle Eastern country has made it's own varying accomodation with the two main parties.
As you have no-doubt read in the papers recently, Muslims in the area are split into Shias and Sunnis, and they are often antagonistic to each other , as well as other smaller groups, and also ,of course ,as anywhere ,many sophisticated people with broader viewpoints . There are as I understand it ,two main risks with Israel's current actions: 1, it could cause a rift between the two main Muslim groups leading to a larger conflict ,across the whole area, similar to events in Iraq, and ;2, Both groups could unite in the face of these unneccessary killings ,and lead to a world war with Israel and the US against most Muslim countries .
This is why I prefer not to group people as Arabs, Israelis ,etc. Since we are all human ,and treating anyone as less because of a name is the path to Hell.

After WWII, Israel, then a british protectorate was established as a nation to welcome the Jewish diaspora.
The Palestinians, who lived in the region but were not formerly organized as a nation were not consulted into this process. Jerusalém became part of this territory and, being a city sacred to all 3 of the book religions, its control and access increased tensions further.
The further management of relations between Israel, the neighbour countries and Palestinians has, from then been rigged with distrust and war.
Israel sees itself surrounded with agressors and fighting for survival, the Palestinians as a people usurped from their right to a territory and the neighbouring countries as political enemies of Israel.
Israel's sieged mentality makes them respond a bit too violently to all aggression (Let's not forget that Israel is a militaristic nation, founded on the back of the paramilitary sionist movement, and with a poor record in human rights - check amnesty international for this. I'm sure this doesn't help either)
The rest of the muslim world sees Israel as opressors of their muslim brothers and for a muslim, the idea of religious brotherhood under the profet ranks higher than the idea of state.
A good mix then, for eternal conflict.
