carpenter bee, watch them closely, when they move into the hole stuff it with chewing gum, they arent bright enough to stay away from it. they will suffocate, or just spray the plank with wasp spray or paint the plank with an oilbased stain

My husband calls it a wood-boring bee. They are rather big for a bee and black with a little yellow on them.

It is called a carpenter bee and if you see them they are just a bit bigger than a bumble bee.
