The same as in the UK. The government do not run the country. Invisible people in high office do. A government is reactive. Liberals, human rights, immigration are the issues that a government listen to. The ordinary native does not stand up and fight, they complain but do not fight. So government do not jump for them. The media is the real power for the masses, whatever the papers print the majority believe. So the media dictates change or no change. We are here in this status quo, war is all that makes a differnce, and who wants to go to war.

Because talk is cheap. It si easy to have high-minded morals, but much more difficult to put them into practice every day when nothing is black and white but endless shades of grey.
Don't you think that even politicians start out as idealists? When they see complexities of situations, though, something has to give.

thats a great idea! not many people could do worse then how our current government is doing! personally id rather have my little 8 year old cousin in office then G.W. Bush...she at least has a higher IQ!
