Sometimes foreign investment is the only way in poor countries. As long as the profit sharing is fairly negotiated and enviromental concerns resonably delt with, it really should not matter what passport money has.

I find that usually those who call up the concept of "selling sovereignty" object more to who the alledged "buyer" is and not to the actual "selling". Leftist in Latin America (where I live) tend to call up this concept when it comes to the US, but would willingly drop trousers for Castro's Cuba or Chavez's Venezuela.

It may not be the best, but sometimes it's the only one available. Mining requires more than just money; you need geological, operating, and marketing expertise. Developing that expertise takes time and effort...
