If you don't purchase a bra with an underwire of some type, then you are not getting support. This is the only rule of thumb you need to follow when deciding to buy.
Push up bras pull your breasts up so there's a more noticeable cleavage.
Have fun shopping!

Underwire bras have a wire sewn into the material that is directly under the breast. They can be uncomfortable to where sometimes and may take getting used to. They offer support only if you get the right size. Buy an inexpensive one at first to try it out, underwire bras are not for everyone.

push up bras push up the breasts so the bustline is higher and your boobs look bigger. Under wire bras help to provide more support by providing a rigid frame under the boobs. They are necessary for anyone over c cup unless you want a bulky bra which is hot and uncomfortable. Underwires often get stuckin ribs if your bony. Not too bad though.

Pushup bras unlike underwire bras have a little extra padding at the bottom corner to "push-up" your breasts. Underwire bras just have support along the bottom of the bra.

See - the underwire that is sewn along the lower curve of the bra does not allow the boobs to slip so you need not pull them up or your bra down to adjust. they support your bust. they are damn uncomfortable unless you buy a good brand and try it out at the store. Push up bras are really meant for those who have smaller boobs or boobs that dont form cleavage.

Underwires generally offer more support around the actual breast without pushing the breast upward to create more cleavage. The push up bras do just that, push the breasts up and inward to create cleavage.

underwire keeps them in place. Push up is to enhance what you have. With both you have enhancement and support. Primary for push up is exactly what is says. Creates cleavage. Underwire is mostly for shaping and support.
