All individual horses are different, temperment can vary from qh to qh and fjord to fjord.

Fjord ponies are very study, small, can carry an adult, get on well with other horse, very quiet and calm generally. I used one for a VERY nervous child to learn on when she had lost her nerve and he really looked after her, soooooo gentle to ride and be around, lots of loving and great fun. Seen some great quarter horses and taught some kids on them, but fjords are smaller and may be better suited to a child rider.

Hope this helps.

My vet breeds Fjords they are really neat horses very sturdy they carry a full sozed man and can do it for long rides.
They are fairly easy to train and have a mild tempermant. My vet likes them better he says it is a shorter fall when you get older.
Quarter horses are also very strudy and versital.
I would pick a horse more on its tempermant and suitability for children than breed.

QH. I would get an older one for kids but a 3 or 4 yr old for training. QH are definately sturdy and good around other animals. I love qh because the can go fast around barrels etc.

i like quarter horses better because they usually grow taller (im tall myself, i hate riding short horses) but there is always good horses in every breed, ones that are willing to please, good around children, good sturdy stalky work horses... so i guess it just depends on what the person wants, a qh or fjord... we have a giant quater horse and he is so carefull when there are children around, its so cute, he lowers his towering head just so they can rub his nose, haha, i've know a family who raised fjords and they had young children, the fjord horses always took care of them really good.

I am a quarterhorse man my self. but like I tell everyone else that askes me about what kind of horse the should get . I tell them to get one that that fits them and tyhere needs best.
Like I said I am a quarter horse fan but my horses would not make good kids horses. however my sons quarter horses are great kids horses and most horses get along good with other animals.
before you get any horse have it checked out buy a vet to make sure it is sound and in good health. get to know the animal and ride it a few times. but most important make sure it is a horse that fits all of your needs.

all horses have different additudes. i personally love qh. there r a lot of different additudes with them. some just want to go run barrels and others just want to go for a short trail ride. look at lots of horses before u deside. qh r very sturdy most of the time but almost all horses will hurt themselves sooner or later.

I prefer Quarter Horses.

Depends on the blood line. Quarter horses are more tam and gentler around children.
