What you call pond scum is probably algae. Trying to get rid of it will be a never-ending battle., especially if you have fish. If all you want is clean water. chlorinate it. If you have fish and intend to keep them, remember that the "scum", or algae, is indicative of healthful water.

If there are no fish then use a pool shock chemical. If there are fish then buy an algae side chemical made for ponds. The sun will create mold and algae in water you might want to buy a couple of algae eaters from the fish store to put in the pond they live off algae. Snails mass reproduce - not a good ideal unless you don't mind killing them off later.

if you can get some straw put that into your pond. I saw it on a gardening program. Put the straw into a meshed bag like the ones you get when you buy oranges put a brick in it to weigh it down then put into the pond. It will get rid of the green gluck in your pond. after a week the gluck will be gone. Hope this helps

It sounds like excessive algae growth due to hot weather, you can buy a solution from pet shop or garden centre which is harmless to fish, this will remove it

likely duck weed or some such thing, some sorts of pond fish will eat it, but if its growing way fast you need a swimming pool vac to suck it up .
