I have found something in my garden, it's dark brown, a bit hairy (also brown), size of a small thumb. Is it a caterpillar or a grub? From wich animal?

Its a wooly bear...believe it or not, i used to have one as a pet (yes..i was a weird child) Sometimes they're light and sometimes they're dark, depending on how the climate of the previous winter was. They're harmless...and quite cute! Good luck with your gardening!

Not sure, but I know some grubs found near the roots of trees are dangerous to the plant as they destroy its roots eventually the tree dies. Sorry, can't remember it name :o.

Caterpillar from a butterfly or a moth. It will soon be that when it matures.

Sounds like a wooly bear catterpillar. They turn into moths, but I'm not sure which sort.
