I was supposed to be Godfather to one of my sister's children and I turned up at the wrong church and it was too late to do anything about it. Why should you need a 'good' excuse just tell them what happened.

Just be honest, if you can. Seriously, there were probably other guests there, right? So, they had friends there. Also, they were probably so focused on the ceremony, they probably didn't spend too much time worrying about where you were.

Got sick and my doctor advised me to stay away from people to avoid spreading my illness...then again you might get karma...try the truth

i am so very sorry we all got food prisoning from eating out we all stayed sick all night and day. i am truly sorry we missed you big day hope you can for give us. but we didn't want to came sick as we were.
