Also, are trademark and servicemark the same thing?

RE: Trademarks

Trademarks & Servicemarks are essentially the same thing in that the research process is similar, the application is exactly the same & the governing agency (USPTO) is the same. The main difference is that trademarks are used for products whereas servicemarks are used for services. A company can have trademarks and servicemarks.

For example, Nike ® has trademarks and servicemarks. They have trademarks for the name Nike ® and their 'swoosh' design for their clothing & shoe lines. They also have servicemarks for the name & logo for their retail stores & online retail stores.
