Congratulations for having cause to ask! I like old English names myself, like George and Aurthur. If your stuck for ideas why not pick the man that you and your partner most admire or who has had a big impact on your life and name your little boy after him so he may have the same effect on someone else.
For instance if you are interested in science and mathematics you might call him Albert after Albert Einstein in the hope he may be very intelligent and change the way we look at the world. Or maybe a male relative, a singer of a certain song or even a comedian who made you laugh may have helped you through a difficult time in life and giving his name to your child may be a fitting tribute.
I think if I had a boy I would name him after Buster Keaton. Might sound like an odd choice but Buster had a profound effect on my childhood and I would like my son to be that influential! Good luck!

Only you can chose that you have to call him by that name every day for rest of his life. He has to live with it a masculine name he can be proud of. Maybe you can use your fathers name or partners carry on the tradition or find a few names you like mix together see what you come up with. You will look at your son when have one and the name will come in your mind.
