No mostly men run from engagement or the "M" word. The reason may be that they must not be financially stable, not made up their mind to take up this decision or just fooling around the girls. Tell your boyfriend and make him understand that this is very important to you, n that he has to take some decision about it. If he loves u, then why is he coming back? Ask him directly, whats the problem, be by his side also, even he must be having some problem. Both of you sit down and solve it. Good Luck, n I wish he agrees n u get engaged soon.

It is very often the case that engagement is seen in a different way by men and women.
Women often see the ring as being very symbolic, and a step closer to the fantasy of a wedding.
Men see it as a promise. The wedding is not as important for the man. It is more of a statement of intent for him.
A wedding is all about the bride.

This has already been answered pretty well but I'll throw my 2 cents in too.
Engagement and the wedding is 100% for the bride.
Engagement gives her time to indulge her nesting instinct and go through all of the girly formalities. Fancy invitations, guest lists, seating arrangements, catering, cake, bridesmaids dresses, and a million other details that never fail to get her so grumpy and stressed that us guys wonder why you put yourselves through it! Men rarely feel the need for such details.
The wedding is "her special day". Guys would rather get it over with. Girls have the image of their perfect wedding day implanted into their heads by the time they're in the 1st grade! They talk about it over and over with their friends throughout their teens and their young adulthood. How many guys talk like that? Not very damn many, that's for sure.
Quicky Vegas weddings suit men just fine...even if it's just a marriage certificate signing at the local justice of the peace.

Hope you get that ring on your finger xxx

just ask your self why do you as a woman want an engagement when you can wear the ring before marriage ont he d-day itself
they think far,its a very girly thing to showoff ring and stuff but for them its just waste of money and time!!

Engagement is some thing to be prudent about and not rush into it. You have to make sure that this is the road that you both want to go. I don't blame any one for being careful and taking their time, before going down that road.

Engagement is really important to me, your own words say it! it is important to you, but not to him, and why you ask? because to him its not a big deal, it doesn't mean that he doesn't love you, it just means that he isn't ready, when he is ready he will ask you, and if he doesn't then he isn't someone you should be with anyway. But i do have a question for you....Why is it so important to you? Is it possible it's so important to you that you're rushing into it??
