He was only one person and not several. His name was Leonardo who came from a province called Vinci. So you could say he was called Leonardo of Vinci and he definitely was a man. He was an artist and inventor of incredible foresight. He designed a helicopter and military tank amongst other things. In his old age he had a long flowing white beard.

I think it extremely unlikely that Leonardo was a woman; if he were, the historical record would surely supply some evidence of the fact.
I think it still more unlikely that he was the plural of "woman," because I can't even imagine what that would mean.
