Who agrees that america isn't a half-bad place to live, especially after you compare to to some places in the world? I mean, we're not perfect, and all, but still it's not so bad?

IT'S THE GREATEST PLACE ON EARTH!!!
I agree we have our problems but who doesn't? The good out weighs the bad by far. I may complain about the war, economy, jobs, high gas prices, and the gov. but where else could I do so so freely?
I love The US.

I am sure the US isn't too bad. You are right, if I had the choise between the US or any place in the Middle East, India or any African country I'd have no doubts to go for the US.

Compared to Europe I think if you are willing to work hard and you like earning good money...better go to the States. If you are lazy and like to depend a lot on social securities..Europe is the place to be :)

From what I hear the downside is that there is quite some crime in the States (at least compared to Singapore, where I live), but then I admit, I have no experience myself.

Well, I have to admit it is, in my opinion, better than Canada or Spain, and probably any third-world country, but really, there are a lot of better places to live than the US. When you speak about safety, you know, less crime and isn't always picking fights or sticking its governmental-nose in other governments business. I think Iowa is nice and the Dakotas aren't half bad, but stay away from California (Lived there for 22 years) and New York (forced visits, dreadful), both have serious political problems and its hard to find decent people without actually looking for them. But overall, the US isn't half-bad, but yeah, not perfect at all and has a lot of things to work on before I'll willingly go back.

It just depends on which part you want to live in. North America, Central America or South America. In the North America you have the United States and Canada to chose from. Central America you have Mexico as the Largest Country choice and in South America there are alot of Countries to chose from So for the people overseas there are alot of Places in America to chose from and get an idea about them. Good, Bad, and too Good or just no good at all to live in.

nope it no bad at all i love it here. but the bad thing i hate that there no doing much about child misters. i say we line em up and have and old fashion masker. them and child abusers and murders maybe then we would have to spend SO much tax money. on the feeding them and housing them they live better then some plp in our country do here why not use the money to help the poor man and the old plp who cant work? and get better schools and pay teacher better.

Considering I have never lived anywhere else, I have nothing to compare it to. Then again, I have no desire to live anywhere else. Where else in the world can you call the leader of your government a "self-rightous me-monkey that sells political favors for personal power" and not wind up dead or in jail? (Of course given the last 4 years or so I'm sure someone somewhere is making a note of the fact that I said it.) "I voted Perot! And I'll do it again...muahahahahaa!"

It's the best. No if, ands or buts about it. What kills me are the celebrities that say, " I hate America." then move to another country, still making money here. They should just stay in another country. If you don't like it, leave, I say. I LOVE America. God Bless the USA!

If the choices are between not half bad and great, I'd say you are right on the money.
