i keep my pc on fr at least 20 hrs for downloadin.can it cause any adverse affects to my pc hardware???

I work at an office where there are over a dozen pcs and they are never turned off. Never. I rarely turn mine off at home. Re-booting is harder on the computer than simply letting it run. Relax!

well... processors, fans, and everything in a computer has its lifetime. leaving it on for so long each day isnt GOOD for your computer, but if you need to go ahead. its not an immediate effect. just like a lightbulb, things burnout in time. so turn off the computer when your not using it, it also saves power. like he said ^, yes you can get lots of viruses leaving it in standby or just on. an inactive computer means your not there, so you wont see whats happening with your computer. if you have a virus program, firewall, and you dont do it alot, sure you can download something for 20 hours.

Nahi yaar. As long as your cooling fans in the pc are working ok, don't worry. Usually PC components have a long life and these days we have to upgrade our PCs every few yrs anyway.
